Library Hours & Information*

8/26/21
Due to the increase in COVID cases in Chittenden County and in alignment with guidelines from CDC, the Charlotte Library Board of Trustees determined that all public programs for the month of September will be held on Zoom, if possible and otherwise will be cancelled. Please feel free to contact the library with any questions or concerns. All registration information will be available in our calendar listings on the library website: www.charlottepubliclibrary.org. We appreciate your help and support as we all work to keep our community safe. The Charlotte Library Board will continue to monitor the COVID situation in Vermont and will update the community about future in-library programming.

The library is open for browsing, computer use, cooling off and more. Please wear a mask when you visit.

8/3/21
Due to the increase in COVID cases, the CDC has issued new masking recommendations. As our policy throughout the pandemic has been to follow their guidance, we are now asking all library patrons, vaccinated and unvaccinated, to wear masks indoors. As always, we appreciate your commitment to keeping our community safe.

Effective immediately, the following guidelines now apply for visitors to the Charlotte Library:

  • Masks are only required for people who are not vaccinated or who have other health concerns.
  • 25 people may visit the library at one time.
  • Visitors may stay for up to one hour.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the library.
  • Masks will be available in the library entryway for patrons use.

Please contact the library if you have any questions. We hope to see you soon!

Monday & Wednesday: 10am to 7pm
Tuesday, Thursday & Friday: 10am to 5pm

  • We ask that anyone entering the library wear a mask and are happy to provide one if needed.
  • Ten people may be in the library for library use at a time.
  • Patrons are welcome to stay in the library for up to 30 minutes.

Library staff will also be following safety guidelines:

  • Wear masks while in public spaces
  • Maintain social distance while at circulation desk
  • Wipe down books prior to checkout

We look forward to seeing you at the library!

As of April 8, 2021, the Charlotte Library Board of Trustees has determined that materials entering the library building no longer need to be quarantined, based on the latest information from the CDC and the Vermont state epidemiologist. We will continue to wipe down all books at check out.

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 11am to 6pm
  • Tuesday and Thursday: 10am to 5pm
  • Saturday: 10am to 2pm

There are three ways you can reserve library materials:

  1. Places items on hold using your library account
  2. Email us with your requests: info@charlottepubliclibrary.org
  3. Call us at the library with your choices: 425.3864

Library items will be available the same day. Please let us know if you have a specific pickup requirement.

Inter-library loan will continue so please let us know what we can find for you if you don’t see it in our collection. Please use the ILL form or call us with your requests.

Thanks to updated research about touch transmission, we have decided to change the quarantine time to 72 hours. This means we can make in-demand titles available on a speedier schedule and that accounts will clear sooner, too. Library staff will continue to use masks and gloves when handling materials and sanitize all items prior to checkout for porch pickup.

Don’t forget about our online options as well. Libby and Hoopla give you access to a huge variety of books, audiobooks and music and video. Information about these resources are on our Online Resources page.

In addition, we have a wonderful assortment of kits and craft projects waiting for you and hope that you will take advantage of these offerings while you visit the library porch. Check out the family resources page for details.

Whether you’re looking for books or not, we would love to hear from you! Please call or email to let us know how we can help. Library email: info@charlottepubliclibrary.org. Library phone: 802.425.3864.
